Founded in Oakland, California, The Body Temple Institute is a provider of wholistic health information and services to the global community. The Body Temple Institute encourages and values healthy lifestyles, alternative healthcare and personal development.

Our philosophy is based on two concepts: wholism and individuality. Wholism suggests that all things in the universe are connected and that everyone is a whole person--body, mind, and spirit. Individuality suggests that each person's unique biological and psychological make up requires specific needs for optimum health and experience. Together these concepts necessitate an approach to health and healing that considers each person's own unique place, potential, and purpose in the web of life.

Again, we believe that everyone is different, and recognition of a person's individuality is the key to proper assessment. As such, our approach to education focuses on persons not symptoms. We see each person as the amalgamation of a unique combination of energies. Only by accurate determination of these factors can health needs be assessed. And proper assessment is fundamental to developing a tailored approach health and healing.

Ultimately, we believe that all healing is self-healing and the body/mind/spirit has perfect knowledge. Our goal is to assist in the awakening of self-knowledge in the individual through consultation, administering of health assessment tools, and dissemination of information.

To facilitate our process, The Body Temple Institute draws on the vast knowledge of health and healing from traditional Western medical research as well as knowledge gained throughout the ages from such practices as traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, homeopathy, naturopathy, chiropractic, astrology, energy healing, vibrational medicine, bodywork and physical therapy, herbology, sound therapy, color therapy, flower essences, and shamanic traditions from around the world.
