About Tantra
by Jan Robinson, Certified Tantra Educator

At the heart of Tantra is love.

The rituals of Tantra, both spiritual and sexual, work to create the conditions necessary for love to flourish and endure. When we achieve the states of presence, energy flow, relaxation, harmony, and connection - in relation to ourselves and to others - love emerges and opens the heart.

To bring about conditions favorable for generating and sustaining love, we rely upon Tantric practices which create more of these positive energy states in our day-to-day lives. Tantra, therefore, becomes not only something we do in our bedrooms, but something we live! Tantra is a way of life.

As a Tantrika, I follow regular practices to still my mind, open my awareness to sensation, raise my energy vibration, and cultivate sacred attitude towards myself, others, and the events of my life.

Each day, I have a time to sit quietly. I breathe fully, slowly, and deeply, opening my body to the sensations within and around me as I inhale and releasing the debris from the day as I exhale. I am present. I ground and bring my awareness to my upper chakras. As my awareness rises to my sixth chakra, I see the world non-judgmentally; I can even laugh at something I found so serious just an hour ago. I have raised my vibration. I open my heart to my human nature, I see an ally in my co-worker who made that annoying remark yesterday, and I recall last-night's loving as a gift from heaven received by the temple of my body. My conscious, present mind and open heart are my best tools for leading a blissful life and enjoying ecstatic lovemaking every time!

Cultivating states of presence, energy flow, relaxation, harmony, and connection is not always easy. A lifetime of hurts and other negative experiences have gradually limited our ability to be present and to express our true life-force energy freely. We slowly become unable to show our feelings and to experience our sexual creative energy in a connected, loving way.

Tantric loving brings healing. It breaks up and washes away the residues of our past that hold us back from limitless love and intimacy. Tantra teaches us not only how to be great lovers, but how to be great healers for one another as well.

Tantra represents a unique paradigm for conscious living and loving. It offers refreshing alternatives for those seeking to connect with their sexuality in a positive, heart-centered way, a way that celebrates freedom of the spirit and body alike.
